2nd National Livestock Research Coordination Workshop

9th January 2025, Phuentsholing: The National Livestock Research Centre (NLRC), Bumthang is conducting two day “2nd National Livestock Research Coordination Workshop” from 9th – 10th January 2025 in Phuentsholing. The workshop aims to align research activities with 13th FYP national priorities focusing on adaptive research and high value products, strengthen collaboration across different stakeholders, and establish a more integrated and sustainable research system. The workshop is expected to achieve the following outcomes:

  • Enhance collaboration, optimize resource utilization and networking in livestock research
  • Strengthen National Livestock Research Strategies and online Bhutan Journal of Animal Science (BJAS) publication guidelines
  • Share research publications, scientific knowledge and innovations
  • Identify national livestock research issues and prioritize research activities for FY 2025-2026
  • Develop roadmap for interspecies hybridization of Yak with Wagyu semen for Yagyu production during 13th FYP

The workshop is being chaired by the Hon’ble Director from the Department of Livestock (DoL), and is being participated by 57 livestock officials from DoL, central programs and farms, highland Dzongkhag Livestock Sectors and invited scientific paper presenters.

The workshop is co-financed by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations’ office in Bhutan and the Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock.
