As a part of the Dzongkhag familiarisation tour, the Hon’ble Agriculture Secretary, Dasho Thinley Namgyel visited the on-going cold storage construction site of Food Corporation of Bhutan Ltd at Khaling on October 23.
A 400 MT capacity cold storage is expected to cater services to the eastern Dzongkhags for storing different agricultural commodities. The structure was initially planned to be completed in December 2021.
Dasho later met with officials from the Regional Livestock Development Centre, Agriculture Machinery sub-Centre, Regional Farm Machinery Corporation Ltd and RNR Research sub-centers at Khangma. During the meeting, he informed them about the Ministry’s priority including youth engagement and enterprise development for contribution to the national economy. He instructed them to explore privatization and engagement of youths in the best possible way.
On October 25, Dasho met with officials from ARDC-Wengkhar and CARLEP. He visited the centre to see the ongoing research activities and new innovative technologies. He also visited Bhutan Agro Industry Ltd and met with staff and discussed challenges. He further visited National Postharvest sub-centre and Dessups Skilling Program at Lingmethang as well as visited Mountain Hazelnut Venture Ltd.
