Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo completes 8-day visit in the six eastern Dzongkhags. During the tour, Lyonpo visited farms and agriculture centers, met with agricultural groups and cooperatives, De-suups of National Water and Irrigation Services and Million Fruit Tree Plantation Project, and officials of the agricultural extension services and Dzongkhags.
In Trashigang, Lyonpo visited Chithawong farm in Radhi Gewog which is spread over 21 acres operationalized by 27 members. Later in the afternoon, Lyonpo visited Gongthung Milk Collection center in Yangneer Gewog where 64 members are engaged in supply of milk.
On 20 April 2022, Lyonpo met with the Orong Thuendrel Tshogpa at Orong Milk Collection Center, Samdrup Jongkhar. Also, Lyonpo visited Orong clinic of the ongoing National Accelerated Dog Population Management and Rabies Control Program (NADPM & RCP).
The following day, Lyonpo visited Bhutan Green Products in Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde and Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative Demo Farm in Deothang. Later, Lyonpo met with Terda Puensum Gonor Detshen and Nanong farmer group in Pemagatshel. Lyonpo also met with Desuups and other officials engaged in the ongoing NADPM & RCP at Nanong Clinic.
Lyonpo concluded eastern tour by meeting with Drungkhag Officials of Nganglam Drungkhag on 22 April, 2022.
During the tour, Lyonpo conveyed about the Ministry’s approach of market led production and advocated about the cost sharing mechanism in the agricultural activities. Furthermore, Lyonpo emphasized the importance of farmers’ group and cooperatives, and large-scale commercial farming towards realizing National Food Security. Lyonpo also advised on enhanced collaboration and coordination among farmers, Gewog, Dzongkhag and central agencies towards efficient communication and optimal resource utilization.
