Every fourth day of the sixth month of the Bhutanese calendar is observed as the First Sermon of Lord Buddha, formally known as Drukpa Tshe Zhi. At the age of 29, Siddhartha Gautama renounced his materialistic life and devoted his life towards finding the truth of human suffering. When he attained the moment of full realization, he earned the name Lord Buddha.

On Drukpa Tshezhi, the Buddha gave his First Sermon on the Four Noble Truths: the existence of suffering, the cause of suffering, that the cause of suffering can end, and the path to the end of suffering at Deer Park in Sarnath, India.
Today is a national holiday in Bhutan to observe this holy occasion.
