Hands on training for BTI Proponents of Sarpang

9-18 August, Sarpang: A ten days hands on training for Big Ticket Initiatives (BTI) proponents is underway in Sarpang. A total of eight interested youths are attending the intensive training on Modern Poultry Management organized by the National Poultry Research and Development Centre (NPRDC) in Sarpang with fund support from Project Management Unit under the Department of Livestock.

In the opening remarks, the Program Director informed the proponents to actively participate in training to grab the in-depth knowledge and skills on poultry farming. He stressed on the importance of food and nutritional security of the country. Further, he reiterated the significance of proper production planning to have stagger chicken production in the country. Bhutan imported about 1648 MT of chicken in 2020 with estimated budget outflow of 31.5 million.

During the training, participants are planned to provide 70% practical and 30% classroom sessions. They will be trained on brooding, feed and feedings, litter management, vaccine and vaccination, biosecurity, record keeping and other related poultry management system.

The BTI project under poultry enterprise development is aimed to provide employment opportunity and generate income for youth and youth groups.
