5 March 2025: His Excellency warmly welcomed Mr. Thomas and expressed gratitude for his visit highlighted the key objectives of his visit to Bhutan and the Ministry. He explained that, in light of the rapidly evolving global trends in consumption behavior and the increasing shift toward mindful and conscious food choices, COFSA was established to promote the concept of mindful consumption and to connect food systems with nature and sustainability.
His Excellency welcomed the ideas presented by Mr. Thomas and emphasized the significant opportunities for Bhutan, and specifically for the Ministry, to explore the COFSA concept. He pointed out that Bhutan’s agri-food sector, which is largely driven by subsistence farming, is deeply connected to nature, sustainability, and agrobiodiversity, making it an ideal fit for aligning with the principles of COFSA .
