Birth Anniversary of Guru Rinpoche

The Birth Anniversary of Guru Rinpoche is a national holiday in Bhutan, observed on the tenth day of the sixth lunar month, which falls on July 9 this year. Guru Rinpoche is credited with bringing Buddhism to Bhutan and is regarded as a second Bhuddha. Guru Rinpoche spread Buddhism across Bhutan and tamed local demons who were against the spread of the religion.

The day is observed in the country by offering of butter lamps, visiting temples and scared places to circumambulate. On this auspicious day, the RNR sector would like to join the Nation in offering prayers for the well-being of all sentient beings.
