The National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) being the National Focal Agency for the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) Regime in Bhutan has been facilitating as well as collaborating in bioprospecting collaborations with national as well as international collaborators guided by the ABS Policy of Bhutan 2015 and Biodiversity Act of Bhutan 2003.
In this regard, to provide clear guidance for the establishment and management of the bioprospecting collaborations, the Ministry hereby adopts the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Bioprospecting Collaborations 2021 after its endorsement by the 123rd RNR GNHC meeting dated 20th July 2021.
Henceforth, the SOP will serve as the basis for making decisions on bioprospecting collaborations until further notice.
This Executive Order shall come into force immediately.
