Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo visits Trongsa and Mongar Dzongkhags

16-20 December, 2022: On 17th December, Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo (HSL) graced the auspicious occasion of the 115th National Day celebration in Trongsa. Subsequently, on 18 December morning, HSL was called on by His Holiness the Je Khenpo to Autsho Namdrupling Gonpa to discuss on the subtropical herbal medicine garden development in Gelephu.

In the Afternoon, HSL along with officials from Dzongkhag RNR Sector visited Ganglapong Chiwog under Tsamang Gewog on invitation by the Mongar Member of Parliament, Dasho Karma Lhamo to visit some of the remote chiwogs of Mongar. During the Meeting with the public of Ganglapong, HSL briefed the gathering on the deliberations of the 8th session of the third parliament; specifically on taxation policy and its act, and on Gyalsung act. The gathering also discussed on the current developmental activities in the gewog and its priorities.

Through the meeting, the villagers of Ganglapong highlighted on the need of an additional gewog extension officials at the Chiwog as it is located 145 km away from the gewog, which was hampering the RNR service delivery. HSL explained that with the ongoing civil service reform it may take time to provide additional staffs and therefore advised them to use the current services promptly. Similarly, the villagers also emphasized on the Human wild life conflict as the major issue leading to huge crop loss every year. To this, HSL requested that the chiwog resort to electric fencing by clustering the community land and also informed that the government has already allocated the budget for the chain link fencing to the Dzongkhag. Concurrently, the Dzongkhag was advised to identify the pilot location and implement the activity as per the resolution of DT.

On December 19, HSL met with the public of the Takhambi Chiwog under Tshakaling Gewog. HSL highlighted to the public on the importance of taking care of government funded activities implemented in the chiwog and also explained on the importance of maize, its benefits, on product diversification and it’s packaging. HSL also discussed at length on food self-sufficiency, national security, economic security and need for enhancing of domestic economy rather than depending on the loans and grants.

In the afternoon, HSL met with the public of five chiwog of Chali Gewog at Wamakhar village. During the meeting the chiwog requested for the Forestry clearance on the construction of 3km farm road at Chali Goenpa for which 98% of farm road construction fell under forest cover. To this, HSL explained the guidelines for the farm road construction and also urged public to give importance to forest conservation and finally directed to look for realignment of the farm road and to resubmit the application. Additionally, acquiring of required size of timber from NRDCL for renovation of village Monastery was addressed. In the evening, HSL met with the RNR staff of ARDC Lingmethang.

Hon’ble Sanam Lyonpo will be in Trongsa from 21-25 December for the constituency visit.
