A 4.5 Km integrated irrigation project at Shaba village, Sombeykha Haa, undertaken by 40 Desups in collaboration with Ministry of Agriculture and Forests was inaugurated by Dasho Thinley Namgyel, Secretary MoAF yesterday on 6th November 2022. The project will benefit 19.98 acres of wetland and 170.37 acres of dry land with the 12 households. The beneficiary village is expected to improve crop production and increased cultivation area for vegetables, buckwheat, paddy, maize and cardamom. The project costed a total amount of Nu. 7.764 Million. Speaking to the water beneficiaries, Dasho Secretary and Director DoA, emphasized on the importance of instituting a functional water user group to take care for seasonal minor mentainance by the group members to avoid major damages. Further, Dasho Secretary informed the community to plan and diversify the crop production taking advantage of assured irrigation water supply with the current project.
