National Biodiversity Centre Concludes Final Regional Consultation on NBSAP in Paro

6 February 2025, Paro: The National Biodiversity Centre (NBC) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL), in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC), Technical Working Group (TWG) members from various agencies, and the UNDP Bhutan office, successfully conducted the fourth and final regional consultation workshop on the National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plan (NBSAP) in Paro from 3–5 February 2025.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders and representatives from five western districts, Thimphu, Paro, Haa, Chukha, and Samtse, to enhance awareness and understanding of the NBSAP’s national targets, strategies, and actions. In addition to fostering dialogue on biodiversity conservation, the workshop provided a crucial platform to identify challenges in NBSAP implementation and assess capacity needs for its effective execution.

This marks the conclusion of a month-long nationwide consultation program, covering all 20 districts and four regions of Bhutan. With the regional consultations now complete, the Centre will review and compile feedback gathered from stakeholders across the country to refine the NBSAP.

The NBSAP Secretariat will initiate a similar consultation program with the private sector to ensure broader engagement in Bhutan’s biodiversity conservation efforts.
