The project renovated 3.5km Khangdari-Godari irrigation. The total expenditure for the project was Nu. 15.5 million. Inaugurated on 12th December 2021, the project has been implemented as a partnership between Royal Government of Bhutan and De-suung office involving 63 De-suups with support from Royal Bhutan Army and guidance from Office of Performance Management, His Majesty’s Secretariat. Godari is situated at an altitude of 1000 -1100 msl under Yangnyer Gewog and is known for the paddy fields of the gewog. It is located 17 km from Yangnyer gewog center towards Jamkhar Gewog and is popularly known as Jamkhardrang. Beside paddy cultivation, the place is suitable for growing onion, early chilli and other vegetable as relay crop.
Due to the shortage of water, most farmers grew crops on small-scale mainly for subsistence and was characterized by low crop yields and production. With the completion of the new irrigation scheme and availability of water throughout the year, it will help the local farmers in boosting their agricultural production and cash income. Presence of assured irrigation water supply will also lead to other benefits and make possible crop intensification and agriculture commercialization. The project will benefit 154 households covering 136.54 acres of Chuzhing.
