9 August, Thimphu: Mr. Yaron Tamir, Chief Executive Officer and Mrs. Inbal Shoval, COO & International Affairs of AgroStudies based in Israel called on Hon’ble Minister Yeshey Penjor and Hon’ble secretary, Dasho Thinley Namgyel, Ministry of Agriculture and Forests.
The meeting discussed on the possible areas of collaboration mostly focusing on bringing in new technology and mechanization to upscale agriculture and livestock productivity. The meeting discussed on exchange and skilling programs in various areas under the Ministry.
The meeting also discussed on establishing a demonstration farm with display of new knowledge and technologies to benefit the students and farmers in the country. Mr. Yaron Tamir expressed their interest to link up with colleges in the country to provide technical and knowledge backstopping with a pathway to Israel.
AgroStudies Limted, the International Center for Agricultural Studies Limited based in Israel is an organisation who provides internship programs and takes care of Bhutanese students in Israel. It also provides advanced studies and training in various agricultural areas. A total of 232 unemployed youths from Bhutan have availed the internship program in Israel so far. Next batch of 33 officials from FMCL will be sent in the next few weeks for the internship program.
The program has immensely benefited the students in receiving new knowledge, technical skills and additionally earn some cash. The majority of the students who have returned from the program is engaged in agriculture.
