Ministry of Agriculture and Forests (MoAF) in partnership with FAO, WFP and relevant Government agencies partners to commemorate World Food Day (WFD) on this 16th October 2022.
This day is observed by all UN member countries around the world with global theme “Better production, Better nutrition, Better environment, Better life”. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Royal Government of Bhutan will join the UN member states to observe this important “World Food Day”. This day also marks the foundation day of FAO in 1945, and this year is 77th anniversary of FAO in United Nations.
While we mark this day we also take an opportunity to join world wide awareness programme and advocate the actions required to ensure food and nutrition security for all. The day will also acknowledges the ‘Food Heroes’ who work tirelessly to provide food for the world, even during the difficult times like the COVID-19 pandemics.
This year Bhutan observes this day in a modest ceremony at Ministry of Agriculture & Forests conference hall, Thimphu. While many school children in the country will also observe this day as an annual event with varying activities on awareness programmes on the theme provided.
