The Department of Agricultural Marketing and Cooperatives (DAMC) is supporting and facilitating the Aggregators and Farmers from Pema Gatshel and Mongar to sell their Avocado fruits and Oat flakes for the first time at Druk Tshongrig Gatoen (DTG) from 28-29 October, 2024.
We would like to welcome all residents of Thimphu to come and support our farmers from East and central Bhutan in marketing their farm produce.
Special request to Agri-Food Enterprises, Hotels, Institutions or any Individual to come and talk to our Farmers and Aggregators and then establish linkages for direct supplies of Avocado and Oats in future. Department staff and Dzongkhag officials will be there to facilitate such linkages at the event itself.
Following are the objectives of our support:
- Promote Local Produce: Supporting the sale of local Avocados and Oats fosters awareness of locally grown food, helping reduce reliance on imported produce while celebrating these produce of our farmers.
- Boost Farmerβs Income: Covering the stall costs at the DTG reduces the financial barrier for farmers, ensuring they retain more profits, which contributes directly to their increased income and livelihoods.
- Ensure Consistent supply: By supporting our farmers in selling avocados and oats at the local market festival, we aim to encourage them to increase their production with confidence. When farmers see a reliable, dedicated market for their produce, theyβre motivated to invest in growing these crops. This sustained demand leads to greater supply, which in turn can help bring down prices over time, making nutritious, local food more affordable for our Bhutanese people. .
See you all there on 28th & 29th October at the Startup Centre, Changzamtog, Thimphu.
