May 6, 2024: His Excellency, the Agriculture and Livestock Minister visited the Country Office of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with the primary objective of interacting with FAO officials and learning about FAO programs, as FAO is one of the important partners of the Ministry.
The Assistant FAO Representative, on behalf of the FAO, expressed gratitude for Sanam Lyonpo’s visit and stated that it would certainly encourage and motivate staff, as well as strengthen collaborations between MoAL and FAO.
His Excellency expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration between MoAL and FAO. He also emphasized his expectation for continued support and partnerships in achieving the very ambitious goals of the ministry’s 13th Five-Year Plan (FYP).
FAO presented the overall country portfolio, strategic priorities, and future programs and projects.
For the Country Programming Framework (CPF) 2024-2028, FAO has also set a very ambitious resource mobilization target of about USD 82 million, including soft commitments.
Currently, FAO has approximately USD 48 million in projects under formulation as part of the active pipeline, including the Green Climate Fund (GCF) water resource management and the Global Environment Facility (GEF) food systems transformation, FAO’s TCPs and others to support the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGOB).
